Internet Protocol v6
Newer versions of some operating systems are now shipping with Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) automatically turned on. Western is not yet implementing IPv6 on our wireless network, and it is therefore not needed.
- To turn off Internet Protocol v6 in Vista
- Navigate to the Control Panel
- Select Network and Sharing Centre
- Select Manage Network Connections
- Right Click on the Adapter
- Select Properties
- Clear the Checkbox next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPV6)
- Select OK
- Close all windows
- Restart your machine
- To turn off Internet Protocol v6 in Macintosh OS
- Open System Preferences and click on the Network panel.
- Select our currently used interface (typically AirPort for wireless connections) from the Show: menu
- Click on the TCP/IP tab
- At the bottom if you see a button which says Configure IPv6... click on it and change the setting to Off. Press the Apply Now button. (If you do not see Configure IPv6 then you do not have it. )
